Steven Keshi blaims referee for Eagles’ exit

BRASÍLIA (AFP) – Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi hit out at American referee Mark Geiger after his side lost 2-0 to France in the World Cup last 16 in Brasilia on Monday.
“The referee is a human being and is bound to make mistakes, but a lot of mistakes is questionable,” Keshi told his post-match press conference at the Mane Garrincha National Stadium. “I’m not happy with the officiating.”

Keshi was aggrieved that Emmanuel Emenike had a first-half goal ruled out for offside, although replays suggested the call was correct, and also felt France had been allowed to get away with some over-zealous tackling
Blaise Matuidi was only booked for an ugly challenge on Ogenyi Onazi that ended the Nigerian midfielder’s game, while Olivier Giroud escaped punishment after catching John Mikel Obi with his elbow.
“On two occasions Onazi received very bad tackles and nothing was done about it. He is out now probably for weeks,” Keshi added.
“This is the first time I’ve spoken about the referee in my life, because it wasn’t good.”
France prevailed through a 79th-minute Paul Pogba header and an injury-time own goal by Joseph Yobo, and will face either Germany or Algeria in the quarter-finals

Joseph Yobo retires from Super Eagles

Skipper of the Super Eagles Joseph Yobo, has announced his retirement from international football, after the team were knocked out of the 2014 World Cup by France.

The defender scored an own goal, after Paul Pogba headed Les Bleus into the lead, as Nigeria once again failed to reach the last eight of the tournament.

It was Yobo’s 100th – a national landmark and he feels it is the right time to draw the curtains.

“It was a bitter-sweet moment for me but I think it is time to focus on my family,” Yobo told reporters. “It has been a long road.”

Yobo played in three World Cups and won th Africa Cup of Nations last year in South Africa, since he made his debut in 2001.

“We’ve won the Africa Nations Cup and we came here and were not disgraced,” he continued.

“I never thought that I’d be here because I missed the last six games of the season through injury. They gave me an opportunity but it is unfortunate what happened.

“I gave my all.”

Yobo also said that he’s leaving able deputies behind in Kenneth Omeruo and Godfrey Oboabona.

“They would grow,” he said. “Omeruo has done very well. Oboabona was injured but he got his chance at the Nations Cup. They’re going to get better, the experience is going to come and one of them has to take the responsibility and be a leader.”

Blunder Gift's France Hard Fought Victory Over Nigeria.

France qualified for the World Cup quarter-finals here Monday after a late Paul Pogba header and a Joseph Yobo own goal clinched a 2-0 victory over Nigeria.
Juventus star Pogba made the key breakthrough for France 11 minutes from time, punishing a rare mistake by Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.

Then in the closing minutes, a low cross from Mathieu Valbuena was turned in by Yobo as he came under pressure from Antoine Griezmann.

The victory ended Nigeria’s dream of reaching the quarter-finals for the first time and put France into a last eight meeting with either Germany or Algeria.

The defeat was hard on France-based Nigeria keeper Enyeama, who had kept Les Bleus at bay with a series of fine saves.
But the win was no less than Didier Deschamps’s’ France deserved after dominating the contest and enjoying the better of the chances throughout.

France will face the winner of Monday’s other game, between Algeria and Germany, in Rio de Janeiro on Friday.

Facebook recent emotion experiment sparks criticism

Popular social network site Facebook is facing criticism after it emerged it had conducted a psychology experiment on nearly 700,000 users.

The test saw Facebook “manipulate” news feeds to control which emotional expressions the users were exposed to.

The research was done in collaboration with two US universities to gauge if “exposure to emotions led people to change their own posting behaviours”.

Facebook has defended the study and said there was “no unnecessary collection of people’s data”.

“None of the data used was associated with a specific person’s Facebook account,” the social networking giant added.

Cornell University and the University of California at San Francisco were involved in the study.

But some have criticised the way the research was conducted and raised concerns over the impact such studies could have.

“Let’s call the Facebook experiment what it is: a symptom of a much wider failure to think about ethics, power and consent on platforms,” Kate Crawford posted on Twitter.

Lauren Weinstein tweeted: “Facebook secretly experiments on users to try make them sad. What could go wrong?”

Meanwhile, Labour MP Jim Sheridan, a member of the Commons media select committee has called for an investigation into the matter.

“This is extraordinarily powerful stuff and if there is not already legislation on this, then there should be to protect people,” he was quoted as saying by The Guardian newspaper.

“They are manipulating material from people’s personal lives and I am worried about the ability of Facebook and others to manipulate people’s thoughts in politics or other areas.

“If people are being thought-controlled in this kind of way there needs to be protection and they at least need to know about it.”

However, Katherine Sledge Moore, a psychology professor at Elmhurst College, Illinois, said: “Based on what Facebook does with their newsfeed all of the time and based on what we’ve agreed to by joining Facebook, this study really isn’t that out of the ordinary.”

“The results are not even that alarming or exciting.”

The research was conducted on 689,000 Facebook users over a period of one week in 2012.

According to the report on the study: “The experiment manipulated the extent to which people were exposed to emotional expressions in their News Feed”.

The study found that users who had fewer negative stories in their news feed were less likely to write a negative post, and vice versa.

Adam Kramer of Facebook, who co-authored the report on the research, said: “We felt that it was important to investigate the common worry that seeing friends post positive content leads to people feeling negative or left out”.

“At the same time, we were concerned that exposure to friends’ negativity might lead people to avoid visiting Facebook.”

However, he admitted that the firm did not “clearly state our motivations in the paper”.

“I can understand why some people have concerns about it, and my co-authors and I are very sorry for the way the paper described the research and any anxiety it caused.”

Jermaine Dupri recently spoke about how he feels regarding Chris Brown's potential.

“He’s a star," Dupri said in an interview with MissInfo. "I told people when he came out of jail, he’s going to be Tupac. He’s an R&B singer and a singer’s music is supposed to go farther than rap. And, it stretches over different boundaries. To me, he’s going to be more famous than Tupac. I mean, it is what it is. I just feel it. He’s a star, and I can’t front on it."

Chris Brown performed at the BET Awards ceremony, which took place yesterday (June 30) in Los Angeles, California.

"When he performs, watch how people act about him," Dupri said during the interview, which was taped before the ceremony.

Rick Ross ARRESTED IN NORTH CAROLINA

Last night Rick Ross was arrested in North Carolina, according to reports filled in by cops say he BLEW OFF a court date trailing from a weed arrest in town last year.

Rick was taken into custody by the Greensboro Police Department late Friday night immediately after his performance at SuperJam 2014 at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Cops say there had been a warrant out for Ross because he never showed up to court to deal with a marijuana arrest back in 2013, so when he came back to N.C., cops pounced.

Ross was cooperative with police -- and has since been released from custody after posting bail.

Newlywed couple in Pakistan killed by bride's family in latest honour killing.

(CNN) - A young newlywed couple in northeastern Pakistan died a horrible death at the hands of the bride's family in the latest honor killing in the nation, police in Pakistan said Saturday.

The couple, identified as Sajjad Ahmed, 26, and Muawia Bibi, 18, were married by a Pakistani court on June 18 against the wishes of the Bibi family, Punjab police official Mohammad Ahsanullah said.

On Thursday, the bride's father and uncles lured the couple back to the village of Satrah in Punjab province, where Ahsanullah said the pair were tied up and then decapitated.

Despite the fact that there were no outside witnesses, family members turned themselves in to police and are now jailed in the Sialkot district of Punjab, Ahsanulluh said.

Such killings often originate from tribal traditions in Pakistan and usually happen in rural areas. Human rights activists said bystanders, including police, don't often interfere because the killings are considered to be family matters.

According to the United Nations, some 5,000 women are murdered by family members in honor killings every year.

Governor Fashola Of Lagos State On His 51st Birthday Task Lagosians To Be Vigilant.

Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Babatunde Fashola while celebrating his 51st birthday yesterday urged residents to be more vigilant and engage any stranger in their neighborhood.

He made the appeal at the commissioning of the Fountain of Life Church’s main auditorium, owned by Pastor Taiwo Odukoya in the Ilupeju axis of the state, said this after receiving a birthday gift presented by the church. Governor Fashola noted that if Lagosians are vigilant and adaptive to their community, the challenge of insecurity would be overcome.

Quote, “We will overcome the challenge by being vigilant and adaptive. By asking questions of things that are not normal. Things that fail to follow the original conduct of human behaviour. By asking question from people who are strangers in our midst, seeking to know where they came from, and what their purpose was among us”. “We must no longer keep quiet. I am sure that if we do these simple things, all will be well with us.”

Fashola however tasked residents to continue to live in peace and harmony in the state irrespective of whatever happens.

Chris Brown Rejects BET's Offer To Have Own Reality TV Show

Reported earlier, BET had shown interest in producing and airing a reality television series centred around Chris Brown, the singer however is not interested in endorsing or being part of such a venture.

In a recent interview singer Chris, when asked if he would ever take up a stint on reality TV, responded, "Nah, not for me, man".

So it looks like we won't be tuning into Brown's life on a weekly basis after all.

Father of the georgia toddler who died while locked up in his SUV revealed to police that he used the Internet to research child deaths inside vehicles, a search warrant said.

 Justin Ross Harris, 33, father of the toddler pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and second-degree child cruelty in the death of his 22-month-old son, Cooper Harris. The boy died after he was left seven hours in a sweltering SUV on June 18.

 "During an interview with Justin, he stated that he recently researched, through the internet, child deaths inside vehicles and what temperature it needs to be for that to occur," according to a sworn statement in the warrant from a police officer. "Justin stated that he was fearful that this could happen."

Initially, police described the death of the toddler as the result of tragic absent-mindedness. They said the dad had apparently forgotten the boy was in the back seat of his Hyundai Tucson; he didn't remember until he was done with his workday, drove a couple of miles and pulled into a shopping center parking lot. 

However suspicions grew as police investigated. "The chain of events that occurred in this case does not point toward simple negligence, and evidence will be presented to support this allegation," said Cobb County Police Chief John House.

T-Boz (TLC) Responds To Rihanna's Twitter Jabs

Seriously I thought this episode was over, but it was however unearthed when in a recent interview T-Boz of TLC made referring comment saying she doesn't do Twitter beefs when it comes to Rihanna's jabs at the group.

Recall a month ago, veteran pop group TLC made some remarks about pop stars these days wearing little to no clothing, with a subtle shot at the main culprit, Rihanna. Rihanna, the outspoken individual, then took to Twitter to throw the TLC girls under the bus and expose them as hypocrites. She even went so far as to make her header an image of the TLC groupmates topless, to help prove her point.

Quote from the interview: "Every time I see you, you don’t have to be naked," T-Boz said initially. Continues: "It’s hard for us to say anything because any time we do, they say, 'Oh TLC must be jealous’, but I call a spade a spade."

Although TLC didn't respond to Rihanna's Twitter jabs during the heat of the saga, T-Boz has now spoken out and said she just doesn't do Twitter beefs. Quote: "There was just her exchange. I don’t do Twitter beefs. I’m a grown ass woman. Okay? You want to holla, you know where to find me. It ain’t hard. It ain’t hard AT ALL and you know what I mean," she said.

Ice T's Grandson Arrested On Charge Of Manslaughter.

 Ice T's grandson Elyjah Marrow, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after his handgun fired off and killed his roommate.

 Elyjah Marrow 19 years old, was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter after he accidentally shot and killed his roommate. TMZ reports that police said that Marrow was "fiddling with a handgun" when it went off, fatally wounding Daryus Johnson, who was also 19.

 In addition to involuntary manslaughter, Marrow was charged with possession of firearm in the commission of a felony, reckless conduct, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession of a stolen firearm, which all stemmed from the incident and subsequent police search of his residence.

Ice T has yet to comment about this.

A Chris Brown Reality Show?

Well according to a report by TMZ, BET is currently in the process of developing a reality TV series for the embattled R&B star Chris Brown. 

While nothing has been set in motion yet as far as production is concerned, sources have confirmed that BET has already began running focus groups to find out if the concept attracts viewers.

Sources say BET has made it clear to several production companies that the network would definitely air a Chris Brown reality series trailing his life after jail, but so far no one has been confirmed to sign Chris.

A focus group was held Tuesday in the San Fernando Valley. Participants were asked if they'd watch a reality show in which Chris tries to stay clean, free from violence and drugs. The group--comprised entirely of African American females--was split, but the majority said they'd watch to see if Chris would screw up.

Like I said, this sounds stupid.

Ja Rule Claims He Beat 50 Cent With A Bat In 2000 Plans To Reveals Incident In New Book

Remember Ja Rule? Well he's in the news again, not for nothing releasing a new hit single though. Sorry to burst your hopes.

The reason is that he recalls two occasions where he claims that he beat 50 cent with various objects, including a bat, a speaker, and a crutch.

Ja Rule will release his new book, Unruly: The Highs and Lows of Being a Man next week, and it may just bring an old beef back from the dead.

The book details much of the highly-publicized feud between Ja Rule and 50 Cent, but most notably, gives us a look behind the scenes.

Two interesting excerpts of the novel, acquired by New York Daily News, describe physical altercations between Ja and 50, both of which involve the former hit the latter with various blunt objects.

Quote: “50 tried to swing on me, but I dipped, then I hit him with the baby Louisville Slugger,” Ja Rule also writes of a 2000 incident in Atlanta that began as a peace summit. “Bam! I dropped the bat. I pulled the shirt over his head. I started catching him left, right, uppercut.”

Later that year, 50 was stabbed at the New York Hit Factory studio, an event in which Ja goes into further detail.

“I hit him with the crutch,” writes Ja, a weapon which he allegedly acquired from a crew member with a broken foot. “We proceeded to whip his ass. I was putting in my work. 50 was crunched in the corner. I slammed the big Tannoy speaker down on him.”

So far, 50 has not reacted to the claims, but you can be sure it's only a matter of time.

Luis Suarez Banned From All Football Activities For 4Months. FIFA

Bad News it is, or maybe one expected? Luis Suarez has been banned for nine international matches and suspended for four months from any football activity by FIFA.

The Liverpool striker is also set to miss a large chunk of the English Premier season and is "banned from any football related activity." The ban is the most severe ever handed out a World Cup but the striker does have the right to appeal.

Uruguay is set to play its last-16 game against Colombia in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday but will be without Suarez, who will start his suspension immediately. The decision was announced by FIFA at a news conference Thursday.

 "The first match of this suspension is to be served in the upcoming FIFA World Cup fixture between Colombia and Uruguay on 28 June 2014," said a FIFA statement. "The remaining match suspensions shall be served in Uruguay's next FIFA World Cup match(es), as long as the team qualifies, and/or in the representative team's subsequent official matches."

FIFA also confirmed that Suarez is "prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium" during his ban and must pay a fine of 100,000 Swiss Francs -- $112,000.

Chris Brown Heading To Court Following Rejection Of Plea Bargain

Chris Brown just REJECTED a plea deal in his Washington assault case -- so he'sheaded for trial. 

TMZ caught up with Brown as he darted into his lawyer's officefor a wardrobe change before his D.C. court appearance.

Chris was close to copping a plea but the deal fell apart because the prosecutor and Chris' lawyer, Mark Geragos, couldn't agree on a statement of fact about the events leading to the alleged assault. Chris has said all along ... he didn't attack the alleged victim last year outside a hotel.

If Chris had pled guilty to assault, he would not have to serve any additional time in jail.  Now it looks like he's going to trial so jail is on the line again.A trial date has been set for September.   

 Brown's bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, has already been convicted of the assault.

LeBron James Opts Out Of Final Year Miami Heats Contract

Just as expected, LeBron James and his agent have informed the Miami Heat that he will opt out of the final year of his contract and test free agency.

LeBron will officially become a free agent on July 1st. His opting out however doesn't mean he can't resign with the Miami Heat, but he is certainly putting pressure on Pat Riley and Micky Arison to spend money on improving their roster.

LeBron, who was scheduled to make $20 million next season, has taken the Heat to four straight NBA Finals and won two in the process.

Bow Wow Decides Its Time To Change His Name

Bow Wow made the announcement that he's changing his rap moniker to "Shad Moss."

Bow Wow progressed from his youth as a rapper named Lil Bow Wow, and as he continues to grow up he's decided on another name change, although this one is more drastic than simply dropping the "lil." 

The current co-host of BET's 106 & Park made the announcement today that following the BET Awards, he will be officially drop the name Bow Wow but instead he'll be adopting his real name, Shad Moss, as his rapper name.

Bow Wow aka Shad Moss says, "After BET awards I will no longer go by Bow Wow!" He took to Instagram to announce. "Im going by my real name ‘Shad Moss’ we made a lot of history as bow wow. Now its time for the next chapter and challenge."

"Bow wow does not fit who I am today," he wrote on IG. "I'ma father, business man, TV host, Actor, and rapper! Time for MR. Moss to take over!"

Sudanese Woman Earliar Condemned To Death For Renouncing Muslim Faith Now Free.

Meriam Yehya Ibrahim, 27, the sudanese woman who was sentenced to death for renouncing the muslim faith is now free and reunited with her husband after getting out of custody, said her lawyer, Mohaned Mustafa El-Nour. An appeals court found that an initial judgment against her was faulty, he said.

The Lawyer however declined to elaborate.

Meriam Ibrahim was convicted of apostasy, or the renunciation of faith, and sentenced to die by hanging in May while she was eight months pregnant. In addition to the death sentence, the court convicted her of adultery and sentenced her to 100 lashes.

Meriam gave birth to a girl in a prison in the capital of Sudan last month, two weeks after she was sentenced to 100 lashes and to die by hanging.

Her husband, Daniel Wani, uses a wheelchair and "totally depends on her for all details of his life," her lawyer said.

She was in the women's prison with her 20-month-old son, but Sudanese officials said the toddler was free to leave at any time, according to her lawyer.

Her sentence had drawn international condemnation from human rights groups and foreign embassies in Khartoum, including those of the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.

Today it's been revealed that "On The Run" is set to become the second most successful tour of all time, if it continues to sell tickets at its current pace.

Forbes has done some digging, and they've uncovered that the tour is looking like it'll gross $100 million in profit. This means that Jay and Bey are making on average $5 million per show, with just twenty dates on the whole tour. That number would put them behind only U2's "360" tour which grossed over $6 million per show.

Fued With FIFA Or Has Pele Outlived His Lagacy?

SANTOS (AFP)– He’s ‘the king’, renowned as football’s greatest ever and the icon of Brazilian World Cup success. But with the tournament finally back in his home country, it seems somebody forgot to invite Pele. 

At the opening ceremony in Sao Paulo, attended by President Dilma Rousseff and a clutch of visiting heads of state, Pele was a notable absentee despite living not far away in Santos.

 Pele For Brazil’s second game in Fortaleza, the three-time World Cup winner was not only not at the game — he was in his car, stuck in Brazil’s notorious traffic near Sao Paulo. “It was the second time I heard a Brazil World Cup match on the radio… in 1950 and today,” he told Globo television later, referring to when Brazil first hosted the World Cup.

 Brazil is not short of successful ex-players. But Pele, 73, was named an honorary ambassador in the build-up to the World Cup and has an unmatchable following abroad. Last week, a museum celebrating his life was unveiled in port city Santos, where Pele played his club football. “O Rei” (the king) cried freely at its inauguration. However, at the World Cup his appearances have mainly been restricted to TV advertisements for supermarkets, fast food and shampoo at half-time.

 - Athlete of the century - Rather than Pele, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen is tipped as the personality most likely to hand over the trophy at the July 13 final in Rio de Janeiro. It is a surprising demotion for a man named “athlete of the century” by France’s L’Equipe sports magazine and who is feted the world over. For some fans, it seems a little odd. “I think it’s strange,” said Rodrigo Andrade, 27, a pastor from Sao Paulo who was visiting the newly opened Pele museum in Santos’s cobbled historic quarter. “I think all the people who came from outside of Brazil for the World Cup want to see Pele.” Pele was not available for comment, and his publicity team did not offer any explanations following requests from AFP.

Guilherme Guarche, historian at Santos FC’s Memorial das Conquistas, the club museum, suggested that Pele had fallen out with football’s world governing body FIFA.“It depends on the conversation between Pele and FIFA. We don’t know what happened between them, why he didn’t show up. It’s FIFA business,” he said.

 But journalist and historian Marcos Guterman said Pele’s image has steadily diminished in Brazil, which is in the midst of great social upheaval. “People here don’t take him as seriously as foreigners,” said Guterman, author of “Football Explains Brazil – a History of the biggest popular expression of the country”. “Pele is a symbol of a great era for Brazilian soccer but he’s part of the past.” 

Guterman added: “There are many other soccer players that are more important than Pele, for example Socrates. His opinions were very important to us because he was politically engaged here in Brazil.

CBN Suspends Statutory Charges On Deposits.

Charges on cash deposit above the daily limit of N500,000.00 and N3,000,000.00 for individual and corporate customers respectively has been suspended by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), effective June 05, 2014.

Consequently, charges incurred due to cash deposits above the daily limit from June 05, 2014 will be reversed accordingly by all banks in the country.

What this implies is that henceforth, there will be no penalty for cash deposits above these limits. However, do note that Cash withdrawal charges at the current rate of 3%  for individual and 5% for corporate accounts is still in place and will be extended to all the states of the federation from July 01, 2014.

Angie has been a fixture at Hot 97 for more than a decade now, and thus she has become one of the main voices of the station, but more than just that, she's been dubbed the voice of NY.

She's done a countless number of interviews for the station, including a rare interview with Tupac when she was just 22-years old.

The radio personality made the announcement via Instagram, where she wrote, ..."Today I resigned from HOT97. I am grateful to the Emmis family for my time with the company and the immeasurable way that it has shaped my life. We made history together in so many ways and I will cherish those memories and my friendships forever. This was one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make but ultimately it is time to move on, to grow and to be challenged in new ways. It has however been reported that Angie Martinez is making her way to rival New York radio station Power 105.1, after leaving HOT 97 today. According to an "inside source", not only is Angie taking on a position at the station, but her contract has already been inked.

Keep your phone out of your pocket – your sperm will thank you

Since guys don’t usually carry handbags, they tend to keep mobile phones in their pants pockets. A recent study from the University of Exeter suggests this may not be a great idea.

That cell phone could actually have a negative effect on your sperm quality.

The review looked at findings from 10 studies, that included almost 1,500 samples of semen. To evaluate the mens’ sperm quality, the scientists measured viability (the ratio of sperm that were alive), motility (the ability of sperm to move) and concentration (the number of sperm per unit of semen).

Compared to a control group, the percentage of sperm showing normal movement dropped by 8% among men who pocketed mobile phones. This group’s sperm’s ability to survive also decreased in about 9% of the samples.

The scientists write that the individual risk for sperm damage depends on how long a man keeps his phone in his pants and how much electromagnetic radiation the phone emits.

Eating too many hamburgers may increase your breast cancer risk
British Medical Journal

Past research has shown that eating a lot of red meat increases the risk of bowel cancer. Now Harvard researchers say eating red meat in early adulthood also increases a woman’s risk of breast cancer.

The scientists analyzed data from 88,803 premenopausal women. During 20 years of follow-up, the team looked at the diets of those who developed breast cancer.

The result: higher consumption of red meat was associated with a 22% increased risk of breast cancer overall. Women who ate more poultry, fish, eggs, legumes and nuts had a lower risk for breast cancer.

The ‘trust and cuddle-hormone’ has another important purpose

Oxytocin is often referred to as the “trust and cuddle hormone” because of  its role in maternal nurturing and friendship. Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, now say that oxytocin is also essential for healthy muscle maintenance and repair.

Their recent study showed that injecting oxytocin under the skin helped animals’ muscles heal better.

Oxytocin is the first “anti-aging” molecule approved by the Food and Drug Administration for clinical use. That’s why the study presents oxytocin as a future treatment target for age-related muscle wasting.

Bad-breath bacteria does more than turn off your date

Scientists from the University of Pennsylvania have found the bacteria that cause gum disease also create an imbalance in your immune system.

Their recent study revealed that the periodontal bacterium Porphyromonas gingivalis disarms the immune system, leading to periodontitis, with inflammation and bone loss. The gum germs block the immune cells’ killing ability and cause inflammation. The dead cells become nutrients that the bacteria feed off of.

“The result is a vicious cycle that exacerbates periodontitis,” the researchers write. The team’s discoveries open up new targets for periodontitis treatment.

Heart disease can hurt your mental health

A healthy mind needs a healthy body.

According to a new study, keeping the heart healthy is also a great way to keep your brain fit. The research examined 17,761 individuals with normal mental function and then re-evaluated them after four years.

The scientists found that the risk for cognitive impairment is greater for people with poor cardiovascular health. A deficit in learning, memory and verbal skills developed in 4.6% of people with the worst heart health and in only 2.6% of those with the most healthy hearts.

The study doesn’t explain the mechanisms that may have led to the findings. However, the study’s author, Evan L. Thacker, said “undetected subclinical strokes could not be ruled out.”

Pres. Obama Now At Par With George W. Bush As His Favourable Rating Drops

In January 2009, as President George W. Bush was days away from leaving the White House, the unpopular President’s favorable rating stood at 35% in a CNN/ORC International survey. The man who was succeeding him, Barack Obama, was fresh from his historic 2008 presidential election victory and had a 78% favorable rating among Americans.

But a new CNN/ORC International poll released Thursday indicates a milestone of sorts: Obama is now as unpopular as Bush. Fifty-one percent have an unfavorable view of Bush; 51% feel the same way about Obama. Obama’s favorable rating is now at 47% — a new low for him, and virtually identical to Bush’s 46% favorable rating, a significant improvement over his 2009 numbers.

Obama started out strong, but as many predicted, the public’s love affair with Obama faded as reality set in. Obama dealt with the severe recession plaguing the nation and pushed for controversial proposals such as the federal stimulus and health care reform. By 2010, the President’s favorable rating had dropped by double digits, although his numbers generally remained in the mid-50s throughout the 2012 presidential campaign.

“This marks the first time in a CNN poll that a majority of Americans have an unfavorable view of Obama,” said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. “And, at 51%, his unfavorable his higher than his favorables for the first time as well.”

As for Bush, his numbers have gradually edged up over the years since he left the White House, and is now on par with Obama.

Both Bush and Obama have much lower favorable ratings than the two men that preceded them in the White House. Sixty-eight percent of the public has a positive view of former President Bill Clinton and 58% say they have favorable opinion of former President George H.W. Bush.

Hillary Clinton’s numbers drop

Hillary Clinton’s favorable ratings have steadily dropped since she left the State Department, from 67% in March of 2013 to 59% last fall, 57% in March of this year, and now 55%.

The drop was expected, as Clinton transitioned from America’s top diplomat to potential Democratic presidential candidate.

“Secretary of State is often seen as a non-political, non-partisan kind of job, and that showed in Clinton’s favorable ratings while she ran the State Department,” Holland said. “In 2011, her favorable rating was as high as 47% among Republicans. Now that she seems to be running for office again, her favorables among Republicans have plummeted to 18%.”

The former President isn’t the only Clinton who has a higher favorable rating than his wife. Daughter Chelsea Clinton’s favorable rating stands at 59%, four percentage points higher than her mother.

For first ladies, both past and present: Barbara Bush stands at 71%, Laura Bush comes in at 68% and Michelle Obama has a 61% favorable rating.

The Poll was conducted for CNN by ORC International dating May 29-June 1, with a sample of 1,003 adults nationwide questioned via telephone. The survey’s overall sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.

Her former PR Femi Salawu confirmed the news in a phone chat with DailyPost.

Her management/family is yet to make any official statement but condolence messages have started pouring in.

Kefee had embarked on a 14-hour flight to Chicago for an event weeks ago but went into coma, forcing the plane to land in Los Angeles so she could be attended to urgently.

Doctors however revealed that her chances of survival was slim as her situation does not only require prayers, but miracle.

Michael Jackson Fan Sues Estate Over A Lack Of Michael Vocals On 1st Post Humous Album "Michael"

In one of the most bizarre entertainment news stories you'll be reading this year, a woman in Los Angeles is suing Michael Jackson's estate because she doesn't believe Michael actually appeared on the now-ironically-titled Michael, the singer's first album released after his death. 

In the suit, she claims she hired an audio expert to analyze her CD and he determined that it was very likely that MJ did not sing lead vocals on "Breaking News," "Monster," and "Keep Your Head Up," all songs confirmed by Jackson's estate to have been authentic recordings.

According to TMZ, the woman wants the suit to be a class action. Basically, this means if the allegation is proven true the Estate would owe money to everyone who bought the full album, or any of the 3 tracks in question at any point prior to the case's outcome.

So, good news for people who bought Michael way back in 2010, there may be a check with your name on it when this blows over.

The elder Bush made the parachute jump near his home in Kennebunkport, Maine. He celebrated his 80th and 85th birthdays with jumps as well.

According to Bush's camp, it was the eighth time he's done it ... the first one being when his plane was shot down by the Japanese over the Pacific during World War II.The man has lived. Harrison Ford Injured On the Set While Filming 'Star Wars' Episode VII.

Veteran actor Harrison Ford was injured today on the set of "Star Wars: Episode VII."

A Disney rep confirms Ford injured his ankle and was taken to a local hospital.According to the Hollywood Reporter, he was hit by a door on the Millennium Falcon.

The Disney rep added that 71-year-old Harrison's injury will not affect the shooting schedule for the movie.

Chinese World Cup Fans Buying Sick Leave To Watch Team

The World Cup is apparently making a lot of people "ill" in China.

Football fans are preparing for the kick off the biggest sporting event of the year by purchasing fake sick notes online.

Most World Cup matches will take place in Brazil when it is past midnight in China, or in the early hours between 3 and 6 a.m. The schedule has Chinese media dramatically referring to this year's competition as "the World Cup with the greatest time difference in history."

To catch those pre-dawn games, fans are resorting to claiming sick leave by purchasing fake doctor's notes through e-commerce sites such as Taobao.

Standard pads of sick notes have always been available on the site, for as little as RMB 1 ($0.16) per pack. But to get a note that looks authentic, with a hospital's stamp and a convincing diagnostic scrawl from a doctor, it will cost up to RMB 300 ($50) per note, local media reports.

One football fan said he was considering purchasing sick leave slips online for the thrill of watching games as they happened.

"Recordings of matches are meaningless, only live broadcasts are fun. If I stay up all night to watch the games, I will be so sleepy the next day and my boss will scold me," the man surnamed Liu told Sina News.

Direct searches for fake sick notes won't work on e-commerce sites such as Taobao. To get around the illegality of selling fraudulent notes, vendors title their items as "proof of diagnosis note."

Sina also reported that one online vendor was claiming to offer sick notes with consultation records registered at a Beijing hospital, at double the price of notes without registered records.

To prevent employees taking fake sick leave, one IT company in Guangdong province has made a rare offer of three days paid leave to employees who wish to watch World Cup matches, according to local media.

CONFAB Advocates Law to Curb Excesses of Social Media Usage

The National Conference sitting in Abuja, yesterday Monday 09/June/2014, advocated the introduction of necessary legal frameworks to ensure that activities of the social media users in Nigeria is properly guided and streamlined to avoid abuse.

 The delegates made the decision while adopting the recommendations of the Committee on Science, Technology and Development headed by Daniel Maddo alongside Raymond Dokpesi as deputy chairman.

 The delegates also decided that government should make laws to regulate the operations of cyber cafes for the protection of children and under-aged users. It was also resolved that in order to elevate scientific and technological development in Nigeria, a National Science and Technology Fund should be established by the Federal Government for utilisation in science, technology and innovation activities.

 The Fund, when established, they insist, would be managed by Presidential Council for Science, Technology and Innovation including all the Nigerian Academies. The envisaged Council, according to them, would render accounts of its operations to the Senate either on annual or periodic basis as would be decided by an enabling law.

 The delegates further suggested setting up of viable military industrial complex as obtained in advanced countries of the world to contribute to the development of science and technology in Nigeria. In order to empower all registered professional bodies in the building industry to perform their expected roles, they called on the National Assembly to urgently pass into law the National Building Code.

 Delegates also agreed on the establishment of Abuja National Museum of Science and History to encourage the younger generations in the study of science as well as to encourage research among academics. Also on Monday, the Committee on Agriculture, headed by Umaru Muhamad Hadeija with Ifeoma Idigbe as deputy, presented its report to the Conference in session.

 The Committee was mandated to deliberate on the challenges confronting agricultural development in Nigeria and chart the best and most acceptable ways for surmounting such challenges in the collective interest of all constituent parts of Nigeria.

 Lil Kim gave birth to a baby girl this morning.

Earlier in February Lil Kim first showed us her baby bump, and now we've received word Kim is officially a mother having been delivered of a baby girl(Royal Reign) this morning.

ET reports that Lil Kim gave birth at 9:58 AM this morning at the Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. Kim had already revealed the baby's gender a few months back, but today we've also received the baby girl's name: Royal Reign.

"Lol these celebs and funny baby names." Back to the gist; baby Royal Reign weighed in at 6 pounds, 5 ounces, and measuring 19.5 inches long. She is Lil Kim's first child, reportedly with baby daddy rapper Mr. Papers.

Lil Kim held a lavish baby shower for gifts, and even started an online petition to get gifts (which was a bit strange).

Anyways congrats to Kim on her on this special occasion!

Rihanna Wins "Most Desirable Woman" At The Guys Choice Awards

Rihanna has won the award for "Most Desirable Woman" at Spike TV's Guys Choice Awards. 



Never knew this actually did exist, "An award show dedicated entirely to dudes", but "The Guys Choice" awards is something that exists, and took place Saturday night in California.

The Spike TV-hosted ceremony won't be shown on TV until next week, but through the magic of the internet we already know that Rihanna took the prize for "Most Desirable Woman".

 Kevin Hart presented RiRi with a golden pair of "Mantlers", and of course made a crack about her revealing dress worn to last week's CFDAs, to which RiRI quickly replied “I knew pervs like you would be here.”

 The singer then made a humbling joke and gave it up for 'real men'. “Thank you for voting me this at 26 ’cause it goes all downhill from here,” she said. “This is a fun award, I appreciate it, and shout out to all the real men out there.”

 She even had time for a photo with Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, which she tweeted out with excitement, captioning the pic with “My life has been completed!!! #Pinkman4President.”

Rapper And Pastor Maze Settles Divorce With Wife

Rapper and Pastor Mase has finally settled divorce proceedings with his estranged wife.

According to TMZ, Mase won't have physical custody of his kids ... Even though he did win back custody of his rap equipment. As we first reported, Mase and now divorced wife Twyla Betha, pulled the plug on their marriage back in April with both sides wanting physical custody of their two kids ... but Mase caved.

Mase won't be a stranger to his kids as he gets "reasonable visitation time" of up to three hours a day as long as he gives 12 hours advance notice.

Mase was ordered to pay well over $6,000/month for child and spousal support.

For her part Ex wife Twyla, must return ALL of Mase's musical equipment. At least that should make Mase feel so gooooood right?

How Misdiagnosis Led To Dora Akunyili's Death

When Mrs Dora Nkem Akunyili was the Zonal Secretary (South-east) of the Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund in 1998, Nigerian doctors gave her what many of her family members considered to be a health scare. They said she had a growth and needed surgery. Akunyili, then 44, decided to travel to the United States, first to get a second opinion and then undergo the prescribed surgery. The bill for the medical trip was $17,000, including $12,000 for the surgery.

During pre-surgery check-up in the US, the doctors told her the Nigerian doctors had made a wrong diagnosis and that she did not need any surgery. It was said to be a minor issue that medication would solve. She thanked the doctors and, to their surprise, said she was going to return the money meant for the surgery to PTF. That was strange.

Nigerian government officials had devised a way of making sure such monies were not returned to the treasury. The hospital informed the PTF, under the leadership of Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, about one honest Nigerian they had found. Buhari was very impressed. He wrote a letter to Akunyili commending her honesty.

NAFDAC Then came 2001.

President Olusegun Obasanjo wanted to appoint a director-general for the National Agency for Drug and Food Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and asked for the recommendation of an honest Nigerian pharmacist. Akunyili’s name promptly came up.

Someone who had heard about her PTF record recommended her. There was a little problem, a Nigerian problem. Objections were raised that the minister of health, Prof. ABC Nwosu, was an Igbo from Anambra State and NAFDAC, being a powerful agency under the ministry, should not be headed by another Igbo from Anambra.

It was also argued that the market for fake and substandard products were controlled by the Igbo, with Onitsha – also in Anambra State – a major centre for the illicit business. She was going to protect “her people”, the antagonists said. Obasanjo, stubborn to the cause, ignored the observations and appointed her.

She went on to do a credible job and ended up as one of the most outstanding public officers in Nigeria’s history, celebrated locally and globally. She had lost a sister to fake drugs, and that was perhaps the impetus she needed to go on the offensive.

Misdiagnosis Meanwhile, Akunyili always went abroad for check-ups and she was always given an all-clear. She continued to look robust and energetic, and took up another government job as minister of information and communications.

But on July 13, 2013, something strange happened to her. She was preparing to travel to the United States to receive an award. The following day was her birthday. Her 59th, precisely. Then she fell ill. She was physically weak and having pains. She decided to go ahead with her trip and attend to her health in the United States. It was while she was there that new checks were carried out. Alas, she had cancer.

The original diagnosis in 1998 was right. But the diagnosis at the point of surgery was wrong. She became seriously ill and there were fears she could lose her life. She was in the hospital for months and only returned to Nigeria this year when the doctors said she was improving. Her last public appearance was at the National Conference in Abuja, where she was a delegate. Pictures of a frail-looking Akumyili soon went viral on the internet. TheCable could not ascertain the type of cancer, but there are several reports pinpointing cervical – and some claim it was ovarian.

Globally, cervical cancer is the second most common and the fifth deadliest cancer in women, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). Akunyili died on June 7, 2014 in India after surviving many death rumours.

Comedian Tracy Morgan In Critical Condition After Fatal Limo Crash

Tracy Morgan was today involved in a horrific 6-vehicle accident early morning in New Jersey and is now fighting for dear life.

Morgan was riding in a limo bus on the NJ Turnpike after a concert ... when it was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer.  Tracy's limo overturned in the wreck.One person in the limo died, and three others are in critical condition, including the former star of "SNL" and "30 Rock."Police say 2 tractor-trailers, 2 cars, an SUV and the limo bus were involved in the chain collision -- and, at this point, they do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Tracy had a standup gig Friday night in Delaware and was on his way home when the accident happened.Another comedian was riding with Tracy last night -- Ardie Fuqua was the opening act in Delaware. Ardie tweeted pics of Tracy on stage and of himself standing next to the bus.

In a Facebook post he wrote, "We traveled back to NYC in style in a luxury Mercedes Sprinter. Road life is a good life!"That was posted roughly 30 minutes before the accident. It's unknown what Ardie's condition is at this point, or if he was still on the bus at the time of the wreck.The single fatality was a 63-year-old named James McNair.Tracy's rep says the comedian's family is with him now and he's currently receiving "excellent care."

Doctors don't expect a change today to his current condition.

Even though Chris Brown was released from jail earlier this week, he's managed to stay out of the public eye. On Thursday, Breezy gave fans their first real look at him as he was welcomed home by some “loyal” friends and family who threw him a surprise/birthday party in Los Angeles.

In attendance at the BBQ was Big Sean, Tyga, T-Pain, Amber Rose, Power 106 L.A.’s DJ SourMilk, and obviously his girl Karrueche Tran, who looked to have thrown it all together. Breezy later posted a photo on Instagram wearing a black bucket hat, and teasing fans with his first post only to see his bottom half of his face.

 T-Pain also posted a photo of Chris and himself on Instagram to give fans a better look at the scruffy 25 year old singer (above). His hair is noticeably longer and he has grown out his facial hair, but more importantly, Chris was described as being focused and healthy while at Thursday's BBQ.

 According to TMZ, Breezy is making a pledge to stay away from drugs and gangs, and is putting all his energy into his long-awaited album X.

TLC Takes Aim At Sexually-Charged Pop Stars; Rihanna Responds Via Twitter

Rihanna takes offense to comments made by Chilli & T-Boz

In a classic case of "young people nowadays...," the remaining members of TLC (Chilli & T-Boz) have taken aim at younger pop stars who use sexually suggestive images to draw attention to themselves on social media. "You know what Madonna did it [first] ... but right now its like a domino effect, everybody seems to be doing that because it gets so much attention," said Chilli in an interview with Channel 7's Sunrise in Australia.

"People are usually followers, it’s rare that you have leaders who switch the game up and do something totally different. So you have all these followers, all of them doing the same thing as a result … posting half-naked pictures of themselves on Twitter and Instagram - it’s just crazy, almost like you are dying for attention."

"Every time I see you you don’t have to be naked," T-Boz added. "It’s hard for us to say anything because any time we do, they say, 'Oh TLC must be jealous’, but I call a spade a spade."

 "We became the biggest girl selling group of all time with our clothes on and that says a lot,’ Chilli chimed in. Rihanna, while not mentioned by name, took offense to the duo's comments, responding to the interview on Twitter:

She also changed her Twitter header image to TLC posing topless in the prime of their career (photo included in the gallery above).

Former NSA Director Puts US On Alert: ‘An attack is going to come’

The former director of the U.S.’s National Security Agency, General Keith Alexander, warned Thursday that the NSA, mired in controversy over alleged  negative overreach, will inevitably come under another kind of  scrutiny when the next terrorist attack comes.

“I do think an attack is going to come and hit us or Europe,” he told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour in an exclusive interview. “And then people are going to swing this right around.”

“What is it that NSA actually does? Let’s get those facts on the table.”

“Put it on the table, look at it, and say is that a reasonable way to do it? And if not, what would you suggest? What would others suggest? Nobody’s been able to come up with a better fix.”

Thursday marks one year since the first revelations from leaker Edward Snowden were revealed. General Alexander led the spying organization until earlier this year, and has since founded a cybersecurity company, Ironnet.

“We do need a debate: Where should the line be on civil liberties, privacy, security? And I don’t think there’s a line; there’s a balance. How do we do both?”

Amanpour asked Alexander, “Do you get that the trust has been broken?”

“Yes,” he said. “To be completely candid on this, part of it is we haven’t defended ourselves well publicly. You know, we got way behind in the media on this in part because we were concerned that we’d reveal things that would hurt our nation.”

“As a consequence, the media took off with a lot of facts or information that wasn’t factually correct.”

Whether it is just a public relations problem, as Alexander says, or whether there are genuine issues with the way the NSA gathers information has been the subject of much global debate.

Germany’s chief federal prosecutor announced on Wednesday that he had opened a criminal investigation into NSA spying on Chancellor Angela Merkel’s mobile phone.

Alexander said he hoped the probe would not harm the countries’ intelligence relationship, which since Snowden’s revelations has already been quite tumultuous.

“I think that cooperation is absolutely vital, especially for Germany, because the United States provides so much intelligence, especially on the terrorism front, to protect Germany and our other European allies.”

Does the U.S. not, Amanpour asked, also get important intelligence from Europe?

“It goes both ways; but I think on the terrorism front, I think that’s where they really look to the United States for help.”

“I think what we have to do is reset what’s going on in all this area.”

But lest someone think that means doing away with the NSA’s controversial programs, Alexander gave a full-throated endorsement of his former agency’s activities.

“I’m not talking about taking the programs off the table. I think what we’ve done a terrible job in, is explaining what those programs do.”

“It’s legal, it’s what they’re authorized, and it’s effective.”

“There are a series of programs; each of those help us build the picture. And if you start taking some of those off the table, the question is, when does it become too difficult for the analysts to conclude what happened? That’s how 9/11 occurred.”

2Pac Reveals Plot Against Him In Previously-Unheard Phone Conversation

2Pac tells Sanyika Shakur that the woman who accused him of rape in 1993 was connected to the men who attempted to kill him in 1994.

We've got a pretty crazy news story for you, fam. A previously-unheard phone conversation between 2Pac and Sanyika Shakur (AKA Monster) has just surfaced, and it contains new information about an alleged plot against Pac. According to the man himself, the woman who accused him of rape in 1993 had connections with the people who attacked and shot him in 1994 at the Quad Recording Studio in New York (not the attack that killed him, that was in 1996). As Shakur originally accused Puff Daddy and his associates of orchestrating the attack, this is pretty big news.

First, some background info. In November 1993, a woman accused Pac and his entourage of raping her in a hotel room, and took the rapper to trial on charges of first-degree sexual abuse, to which he pleaded not guilty. The day before the verdict was announced, November 30, 1994, Pac was shot five times by three men in the lobby of the Manhattan recording studio. Despite that connection (coincidental or not), the rapper initially accused Puff Daddy, The Notorious B.I.G. and their associates of putting a hit out on him.

But now, in this phone conversation, Pac is clearly heard saying, "The girl that did this rape shit, she hooked up with the niggas that shot me. It was all connected; it was a big plan. I just caught it at the end, and that's why they shot me." With the alleged sexual assault occurring before the attack, and the attack coming hours before a judge gave Pac a shortened sentence, it definitely seems like someone was trying to get him locked up for a long time, and when they realized that was unlikely to happen, resorted to more violent methods of silencing the star.

As this topic only pops up briefly in this lengthy phone conversation, we don't get much else in the way of helpful information (or identification of the assailants' names or motives), but the reveal of this "big plan" against 2Pac is certainly shocking coming 18 years after his death. Apart from that portion of the conversation (which is around the 12 minute mark), Pac's phone call with Sanyika Shakur also shows how much the rapper cared about supporting communities.

Revealing plans for community centers, children's sporting events, registering voters and asking drug dealers to have the streets clean from 6 AM to 11 PM "for the kids," it's clear to see Pac's investment in making the world a better place. About himself and other rappers, he says, "we got the juice, we just ain't doing nothing with it." Also speaking on his actions taken against a gang that executed a child, Pac was a very rare breed in the rap game. We need more artists to take up his mission to give back to communities and work with gangs to keep children safe.

World Cup hosts Brazil have moved into third place in the latest FIFA World Ranking as Spain and Germany retained the top two positions.

Portugal -- who benefited from bonus ranking points for having defeated Sweden in their World Cup playoff last year -- are now fourth while Argentina and Switzerland each moved up two places and are now fifth and sixth respectively.

Uruguay dropped one place to seventh and Colombia dropped three to eighth, while Euro 2012 finalists Italy remain ninth and their first World Cup opponents, England, return to the top 10 at the expense of Greece, who fall to 12th.

Belgium are up one place to 11th despite having their recent 5-1 friendly victory over Luxembourg wiped from the records after coach Marc Wilmots used too many substitutes.

The United States climbed one spot to 13th, ahead of Chile, with the Netherlands 15th, France 17th and Mexico 20th.

Algeria, in 22nd, are now the highest-ranked African side, with Ivory Coast falling three places to 23rd, while 43rd-placed Iran, down six spots, are the best-placed Asian team.

Palestine were the biggest movers, rising 71 places to 94th, which represents their best ever position.

A Ghanaian has said that he has provoked the Portugal star to be spiritually wounded before the World Cup and will prevent him from facing the Black Stars

A traditional priest from Ghana has said that he is behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury problems, which “can never be cured by any medic”.

The Real Madrid and Portugal star is suffering from tendonitis and is set to miss out on his country’s pre-World Cup friendlies against Mexico and Ireland, though Nana Kwaku Bonsam, who describes himself as a traditional priest, has claimed responsibility for the Ballon d’Or winner’s plight, which he has claimed to be “spiritual”. “

I know what Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury is about, I’m working on him,” the witchdoctor told Ghanaian radio station Angel FM.

 “I am very serious about it. Last week, I went around looking for four dogs and I got them to be used in manufacturing a special spirit called ‘Kahwiri Kapam’. “I said it four months ago that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo and rule him out of the World Cup or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana and the best thing I can do is to keep him out though injury.

“This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is thigh, next day it is something else.”

 Ghana are due to play Portugal on June 26 in Brasilia, in what will be their final match of Group G, which also includes Germany and USA.

Go straight to the point and say exactly what you want to say. You don’t start with,

You are the greatest person in the world…the best part of me, the one I cannot live without and I want to break up with you.

Yes, you should be gentle and sensitive but stay on the matter.

 1) The heart to heart approach: This is typically the way we want to get it done- especially if we’re the one who wants the relationship to end. You want to sit down, listen sympathetically as both of you say you both gave it your best but unavoidably, it didn’t work out and thereafter, you hug and part ways amicably. We all know that this doesn’t always work. There may be screaming bouts and in some scenarios- acid pouring. Just ask Edmund Educhukwu, whose girlfriend blinded him with acid rather than just let his unfaithful ass walk off free into the sunset. But, communication is very important. If you’re not on the receiving end of any abuse, more than anything else, try a sit down (preferrably open space) heart to heart approach. (Better than a cowardly text message or third person could do for you).

 2) Be Gentle and Sensitive: Yes, the relationship is doomed and you want to jump ship, choose a place that is -preferrably, memorable for the both of you and when you have stated your intention to move forward, (in case you both aren’t there yet), be gentle with your choice of words. You are telling someone  you once shared your heart with, that you are leaving them. Some will react badly- screaming, sobbing, threatening etc, but, be gentle. Be sensitive as they’re hurting and like the stages of grief- anger and denial are stages. Allow your now ex, to vent.

 3) Be Direct: Go straight to the point and say exactly what you want to say. You don’t start with, “You are the greatest person in the world…the best part of me, the one I cannot live without and I want to break up with you”.   Yes, you should be gentle and sensitive but stay on the matter.

 4) Be a Listener: Even if you were a saint who gave in everything  and the relationship still didn’t work out and you have now sat down and broken the news to your now ex, take the time to listen. Maybe your sainthood garment would receive a beating, maybe you’d learn a few things to have made the relationship work, maybe you’d learn why your now ex held back or strayed. If the mood is safe, the best bet is to talk- and listen. And now, your relationship is over. We hope it was the best choice. ————————

After hours of waiting on Monday, Stephen Keshi released the final World Cup list at midnight. And as the drama and suspense that preceded the release, the list also came with some surprises. Boko Haram Strikes Again in Adamawa State.

The Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram has struck again bombing a bar and brothel located near a military base in Mubi, Adamawa state on Sunday evening, June 1, 2014.

At least 60 are reported to have lost their lives in the blast, among which is one soldier.

The bomb went off at about 6pm according to eyewitnesses. The building the incident occurred is said to be very close to the headquarters of the Special Operations Battalion (SOB) of the Nigerian army in Mubi.

Sahara Reporters reports:

The battalion is at the center of the Nigerian government’s counter-offensive against Boko Haram’s increasingly daring attacks on military and civilian targets.

Soldiers based in Mubi frequently join civilians to eat, drink and dance at the watering hole, our sources said, adding that military commanders generally warned soldiers not to stay at the joint past 4 p.m.

In recent weeks, Boko Haram has carried out deadly attacks in the northeast Nigerian states of Adamawa, Borno and tone, despite the Federal Government’s declaration of a state if emergency in the three states.
